The Klaine\Finchel, Kurt\Rachel parallelism

I'm seriously pissed off at the way Glee writers insist on paralleling whatever happens with Klaine\Finchel and Kurt\Rachel. They've done a couple of times but it really got out of hand in season 4.

In Glease, we were told that there will be a conversation between Klaine, Kurt went to Lima specifically for that purpose. Instead, we found a very pointless conversation between Finchel that I'm having trouble figuring out the purpose of to this day, while Klaine barely had a 1 minute conversation. and okay, I get the reason behind the brief Klaine conversation and I'm not complaining (okay, who am I kidding? I AM complaining) but why give Finchel one in the same episode, seconds before the Klaine one? Didn't they say everything they wanted to say in The Break Up? We even got to see them actually break up while Klaine's break up was behind the scenes.

Klaine got a long over due phone call in Thanksgiving, there was a reason behind the call and it fell in line with what Isabelle was telling Kurt. Rachel, on the other hand, called Finn after winning the Winter Showcase, which honestly confused the hell out of me. Didn't Rachel decide not to call Finn in the beginning of the episode so as not to remind him of another loss after ND lost Sectionals? So of course it makes PERFECT SENSE for her to call him after winning a competition that no freshmen has ever won before, talk about rubbing it in his face, Rachel. Yeah, sure, I loved the pep talk and that it kicked Finn into gear, but why the hell would she call him in the first place? It was an out of the blue decision that contradicted what she said before, and she was also calling her ex for no reason whatsoever after taking steps into a relationship with another. But of course since Klaine got a phone call, Finchel just HAD to get one too, can't have Klaine do anything that isn't mirrored perfectly by Finchel after all.

Now the Kurt\Rachel situation, that one just got out of control. They've doing that since season 1 with the Defying Gravity sing-off and they went ridiculously overboard with it in S3. And every single time, they make it  like they want to point out that Rachel is better than Kurt, even when she actually isn't. So let's go over season 3 for a minute here
  • Both auditioned for the lead roles in WSS. Mercedes was better than Rachel but no one would tell the almighty Rachel Berry that so she got the role after Mercedes withdrew. With Kurt, they first had Beiste say that he's too much of a lady, made them laugh at him then bet him against his own boyfriend. And don't get me started on the fact the he was too much of a lady to play a gangster but they were okay with him playing a freaking police officer.
  • They both ran for Senior Class President which ended with Rachel withdrawing from the race and yet, Kurt still lost.
  • Both auditioned for NYADA. Kurt killed his audition while Rachel choked. Yet, it was Rachel who got into NYADA. The excuse they gave for Kurt not getting in through Carmen is a load of crap. I've watched the ND performances at Nationals a million time and I can't find "complexity and depth" or "show of vulnerability" in Rachel's performance so I really can't understand why Rachel got in instead of Kurt.
The writers always make Rachel come out on top every single time. She is the golden princess who gets everything she wants. I'm not saying that she doesn't work hard because she does but honestly? When you look at what she has faced compared to the others, you'll conclude that she is the spoiled one. The only problems Rachel faced in 3 whole seasons are: Finn, her mother and the choking incident and that's it. So yeah, I don't really get why she always gets off easy in these situations while Kurt has to fight his way through and still loses. I'll be majorly pissed if Kurt doesn't win the Bring Him Home diva-off because honestly, I would like to see him win for a change and let's face it, he's got the talent that allows him to.

Thougts on Blam

I don't get why everyone is making such a big deal out of the crushes, especially the Blam one. I think that Glee did a pretty good job in portraying the whole thing and I actually enjoyed it.
Let's talk about Blaine first. I've read some posts that regard his crush like it means that he was getting over Kurt and how wrong it is. There were several subtle hints that this is not the case. I kinda felt the vibe that Blaine is just looking for something or someone to ground him.

The scene between Tina and Blaine in front of his locker was my ultimate favorite because of all the messages it sent. At the beginning, when Blaine opens his locker, his eyes are drawn IMMEDIATELY to the pictures of Kurt he keeps there. Then when Tina, she says "You miss Kurt and you're looking for a place to put your love",you can see him swallowing hard after it. So yeah, not over Kurt after all.

But my favorite part is when she says "your very human but very moving dilemma", THAT'S the core of it. He's human, no matter how perfect he seems or how collected, you have to remember that he's just an 18 year old who is prone to make mistakes and have feelings. Honestly, and take it from someone who's very fragile emotionally, the crush makes perfect sense. When your world shift on its axis and you start to fall, you're desperate for someone to pull you back and it CAN result in you latching onto that person. That's what's happening between Blaine and Sam.

I don't have a problem with both crushes, but I actually understand Blam, Blina not so much but Blam? HELL YEAH. And it doesn't degrade the relationship because it's not Blaine being horny, it has NOTHING to do with physical attraction. Sure Blaine does think that Sam is cute and all that but he doesn't have a crush on him because of it, he started depending on Sam emotionally and it developed into a crush THEN he started seeing him as attractive. This isn't him meeting someone for the first time and going "Man, that guy is handsome, I have to have him", that was him getting attached to the one person who cared.

Sam was the only one who cared about him when he was suffering, the only one who made an effort to reach out to him. He didn't condemn him or take a side, he was a true friend. So yeah, Blaine crushing on him actually makes perfect sense to me. Also, I'm excited about how the situation will help him grow. The only other love interest we're seen other than Kurt, was Jeremaiah and that was very brief and didn't hold any weight.

But now to have one of his close friends crushing on him while he's crushing on his best friend? He has to learn how to deal with it,how to work through these feelings without destroying his friendship with Sam and Tina. That's growing up. I mean, look at Kurt, Mercedes crushed on him then he crushed on Finn then on Sam, not to mention the mini crushes on Cooper and the Spanish teacher. And you know what? he came out stronger and his relationship with all three ended up going fine. He got a best friend, a friend and a brother out of the deal. Blaine WILL get two best friends out of it so yeah, I'm all for it.

I think we put Blaine on a high pedestal and expect him to be perfect and we deem anything that's less than perfect "out of character". I'm super excited to see how Sam will figure it out. I'm not worried that it will damage their friendship and I think they'll come out stronger.
