New Directions or Warblers?

So I’ve been reading a lot of comments about the Warblers\ New Direction’s fight over Blaine and a lot of people think that Blaine should have ditched ND because they were horrible friends who ignored him and only wanted him for his talent.

I agree that the ND were crappy friends. The guy basically had a meltdown on stage and none of them cared. Then his ex-boyfriend show up out of the blue and nobody thought of checking up on him. Plus, they still call him Blaine Warbler (thank you new guy Hunter for pointing this out) even after being a member of ND for a year.

The thing is: despite them being crappy friends, the Warblers were even worse. ND members tend to be self-absorbed, yes sure but they never hurt each other intentionally and they always step in when things start to go south. When push comes to shove, they stand up for each other.

The Warblers, on the other hand, were the epitome of horrible friends. I love the Warblers but they have so many points against them.  First they were completely okay with throwing a slushie at Kurt, then when it hit Blaine instead, they just up and left, ignoring the fact that their so called friend was on the ground screaming in pain. Even when Santana went to confront them, they brought another slushie to throw at her AFTER she told them that Blaine might lose an eye. Real friends wouldn’t have done that, they wouldn’t agree to slushie a friend, they would have turned in the meekrat who hurt said friend and they sure as hell wouldn’t continue with a second attack after realizing the ramifications of the first one.

Please don’t tell me that singing with ND made everything right and saying that “they now know what kind of person Sebastian is” was completely ridiculous. Because the thing is it didn’t matter what kind of person Sebastian was, what mattered was what kind of people the Warblers were. Sebastian wasn’t friends with Blaine and Kurt so in a way, the Warblers’ actions were worse because they were the ones who betrayed both boys.

Using the argument that ND only want Blaine for his talent is invalid. Isn’t that the exact same reason the Warblers want him? Hunter didn’t try to hide it, he wanted “Blaine: the Dalton Legend”, not “Blaine Anderson” and the rest of the Warblers were fine with that. They tried to lure Blaine in by manipulating him. They did such a number on the guy that he told Finn “they welcomed him like a long lost brother”, they had resort to stealing the trophy to get Blaine to Dalton. If they were such good friends, couldn’t they just ask him to come? Couldn’t they try to figure out what HE wanted before going out of their way to make him feel like a stranger at Mckinley, before using his guilt and his insecurities against him?

Before the episode aired, I was ready to slam both choirs but ND redeemed themselves. Sam didn’t use ND as a mean to get Blaine to stay. He actually talked to Blaine, he tried to find out why he wanted to transfer and he recruited the entire group to assure Blaine that he does have friends in Mckinley. They started a canned food drive, painted over graffiti and got involved in a paint fight, all of which HAD NOTHING WITH GLEE CLUB. They were helping their friend Blaine, not their leader Blaine.

Sorry but I think if it came to a choice between the warblers and New Directions, I would pick ND any day because no matter what mistakes they do, they always bounce back and make it right and most importantly, they care.
