Blaine Anderson in Sweat Dreams

This episode was a clear point of continuity when it came to the portrayal of Blaine. It not only gave a nod to his reaction to the shooting but it also emphasized several of his character traits.
  • The aftershocks of the shooting
- Blaine was pretty much interacting with everyone in Glee and he touched quite a few. The contrast between this Blaine and last episode's Blaine who held himself at a distance and folded onto himself is so starkly clear that it shines more light on his reaction to the shooting.

- Much like everyone else, Blaine developed an adapting technique to work through the shooting. Blaine's method consisted of pushing forward and burying himself in work (something he did before when he tried to keep himself busy and focused on other things when Kurt moved to NY) He was going on like nothing happened despite him being clearly affected ( he literally ran into Artie in the hallway)
  • Being a leader
- He was the one who called the meeting of the Glee club when he felt that Will's suggestion weren't good. He was the one who prompted them to brainstorm new ideas for the competition. He was the one who proposed the idea of taking Marley's original songs to Will. He was the one who took lead and started the failed conversation with Will, a conversation that everyone kept silent during and he ended up getting the heat of Will's 'disappointment'.

- Will clearly addressed Blaine as the captain of ND, not just as a member. While his comments to Unique and Sam criticized them for personal things, he held Blaine accountable for everything his teammates did and attacked him for allowing what was happening to go on (I'm not sure what he expected Blaine to do about Unique and Sam but that's besides the point)
  • Being a people pleaser
- Indulging Coach Washington in something he clearly thought was stupid and crazy.
- Looking particularly upset when Will told him that he was disappointed and that what they were doing is unacceptable, even apologizing after Will told him that he was disappointed in him.
  • Expressing vast musical knowledge
- Seriously, the guy knows the years the songs came out. Add that to the performer persona Blaine always assumes on stage, you get why he is the captain of ND.
  • Being a teammate and a friend
- Listening to Unique explain what she was doing to enhance her boobs is a mark of a good friends, no matter what anyone tells me. He even looked interested, nodding his head along to her words.
- Praising Marley for her songwriting skills and encouraging her to go bigger and show her songs to the rest of ND and Will. Reaching out to accept the sheet music the second said that she just wanted to hear her song out loud.

- Showing concern for Becky, first glancing at her worriedly when Roz started talking trash about Sue and her baby. He seemed almost reluctant to call Becky Adult Baby Robyn during the pledge. He picked up on the fact that something was going on with Becky, something that the Coach herself didn't notice.
  • Blaine and Sam
- While not being at his 100%, Blaine still showed concern for Sam, the fact that he was the only one who voiced concern about what Sam was doing speaks clearly of it.

- But he came to the conclusion that this is what Sam needs so he decided to be there for him, even if he didn't get it. If it was helping Sam, then Blaine was on board.

- Every single time Sam needed to summon Evan, he faked a phone call with the exception of when they were in the auditorium because Blaine gave him the excuse he needed. Blaine showed solidarity to Sam by this move, telling Sam indirectly that Blaine had his back. Blaine somewhat indulged Sam, which appeared in the way he looked at Unique after Evan disappeared behind the curtain.

Sam Evans Twin Situation

The Sam-Evan plot was pure crack that had me gaping at the screen at first, not understanding where the hell it came from but the more I think about it, the more I like it because it's a continuation of the mindset Sam was in in Shooting Star.

Sam's experience with the shooting was extremely traumatic, even maybe more traumatic than the others because Sam denied himself one of his most basic rights, the right to be terrified for himself. We only saw him talk about Brittany then lose it over her. From the very first moment, Sam was only talking about Britt. It was like he focused all his energy, all his thoughts on her without sparing a thought for himself, which is why he was willing to put himself in danger to rescue her. Sam didn't allow himself the time to worry about his own life and thus, his perception of the shooting was focused on how Britt wasn't there with them. This part manifests himself in how he never tried to reach out or interact with any of the others, even the ones we expected him to connect to. His distance from Blaine in particular was noteworthy because Blaine was right there, yet, Sam never interacted willingly with Blaine at all during the shooting despite the fact that Blaine was basically falling apart in front of him. Sam never responded to Blaine telling him that Tina wasn't in the room either, he shrugged off Blaine's and Artie's hands when they tried to stop him from standing up and he patted Artie camera away. It was like his mind was on a loop of 'Brittany isn't here'. He silenced the voice that was worried for his life and only focused on Brittany. Sam silenced his own fear.

The first time we saw Sam start to absorb the presence of other people was when Will and Beiste restrained him, which only complicated the problem. This was yet another restraint, another gagging. Sam was silenced repeatedly by Will in this episode, first by Will shushing him then by actually putting his hand on Sam's mouth to stifle his cries.

So Sam basically felt like he has lost his voice in some way so he came out with a defense mechanism: having a 'twin' who is collected and can deal with tough situations (as shown in how he jumped up to 'summon' Evan when the atmosphere became tense in the choir room), a twin that still has his voice. He kept switching between the two of them before settling on Evan to attend the first official club meeting. Because it was a room where Sam was no longer heard.

Evan was the one who came into the auditorium when Marley asked them to meet her there but the second he arrived, he switched into Sam immediately because he knew they won't shoot him down or silence him. Blaine actually gave him an excuse to disappear for a second.

After Will stopped Sam from switching to Evan, effectively restraining Sam again. However, Sam was virtually the only one who didn't let Will deter him from his attempt at adapting. Unique returned to wearing boy clothes and Blaine retreated into a shell and avoided looking at Will altogether till Will addressed him. Evan, on the other hand, told Will that 'Sam moved to Alaska', a sign that Sam no longer feels safe in Will's presence, no longer heard that he had moved far far away. Will had lost Sam's trust by shooting him down when he tried to switch to Evan and basically called him crazy.

The return of Sam's impressions was the sign that Evan was no longer needed. It came after Will told them that 'they will always have a voice in this room'. That declaration, followed by Finn's return and Will's willingness to actually listen to what they had to say are what made Sam come out and stay. He was just Sam throughout Outcast because Sam had a voice again.

4.19: Sweet Dreams

Here's what you missed on Glee: you can live in college dorms without actually studying anything Puck-style, Coach Washington is a firm believer in Fruity Fonzie's Vodoo powers, Will didn't want us to worry about him becoming a decent teacher so he went back to his mouth-gagging ways and Tina still holds the trophy of the weirdest clothes ever worn on Glee which is saying something considering we suffered through Rachel Berry's animal sweaters.

Finn's college experience was so over the top that it actually became hilarious. It was like Glee was showing us the opposite side of the college experience with Finn and Puck. Rachel's and Kurt's life at NYADA consists of work, auditions, work, Midnight Madness and more work, the only time we saw them having fun was at Callbacks and we all know just how much fun that night turned out to be. NYADA represents the serious side of college with the requires hard work and hardships while Lima University is about the fun side of college. Puck being the one to kick Finn into shape was a nice nod to last season when it was the other way around, with Finn trying to help Puck graduate.

Just when we were considering changing our opinion about Will's crappy teaching methods and like him for what he had done last episode, he decided that his old ways were oh-so-very-successful and went back to them. It's very hypocritical to be talking about the traumatic experience your kids went through then turn around and basically gag them, Will. First telling the transgender girl to 'tone it down' then yelling at the boy whose adapting technique was to pretend to have a twin then my most favorite part, telling the boy who basically shut down during the shooting how disappointed in him you are. But hey, Will skipped his coffee to get to Glee which is apparently a dictatorship that was disrupted by the kids daring to 'defy' their vest-wearing, coffee-loving leader. Oh, poor misunderstood Will.

So in true Will fashion, he didn't realize what a douche he was until someone clubbed him over the head with the fact. The moment came when he overheard some of his kids sing about having friends and being okay. Glad to know that Will's creepy, eavesdropping, slightly stalkerish I'll-watch-you-from-the-wings-without-you-knowing ways are still effective.

You Have More Than friends More Than You Know was one of the sappiest, corniest things I've ever seen on Glee but you know what? I loved it. Those kids broke my heart when Will yelled at them and if corny songs makes them feel slightly better, then so be it. Marley's decision to write a song to make Unique, Blaine and Sam feel better was a very nice gesture. To me, the song spoke more about Unique than it did Blaine or Sam but it was good all the same.

The kids reaction to Will was very realistic and very well-played. Evan's 'Sam moved to Alaska' was a crack moment (the whole twin thing is a typical Glee crack story that makes you wonder what the hell is going on then fall in love with how it was portrayed) but it sent a message to Will that no, he wasn't  helping. In fact, he was making it all worse and causing his kids to retreat further into themselves.

The Roz\Blaine\Becky scene had me in stitches. I haven't laughed this hard at Glee since forever. Vodoo power and Fruity Fonzie (this is officially my favorite Blaine nickname) made my day. And Blaine noticing that something was wrong with Becky is shaping up to be one hell of a story. Glad to see the Nightbird's powers still work when you're in your civilian clothes, B.

Outcast was fun and I loved the energy and joy in the room. But I still don't buy having this specific group singing about being outcasts, I just don't see it and there was nothing in the episode to warrant such a song, except for Unique's story line. Alas, it was nice so I'm gonna enjoy the music and stop trying to link the lyrics to the story lines.

Rachel's duet with Shelby was one of the best songs in the episode. They sounded amazing and thank you Shelby for telling Rachel not to try to be a carbon copy of Barbra. Watching Rachel imitate her everything, down to the way she talked was hurting my eyes.

Wasn't the phone call between Rachel and Finn supposed to be sweet? All I saw was her cutting him off to discuss her problems. I get that she needed him and that she had more pressing issues and he is supposed to stand by her when she needs him. However, she didn't call to thank him despite saying that she owed him a debt of gratitude but she called him when she needed a pep talk? Her question about college was just her being polite, instead of her being actually interested in what was going on. It was just weird.

Here's the thing Glee: we've watched Rachel Berry sing Don't Stop Believing twice on the show and both times were equally amazing. We've seen what she can do with this song and a million others so why on earth did you feel the need to do that to the song? I appreciated the slight change of melody at the beginning, it made the song slightly more upbeat and fun. Making it sound Broadwayish, on the other hand, was the exact opposite of good. Not only did it destroy the song, it also made Rachel look like a show-off. Her voice is beautiful and the song already has parts that showcase the range of her voice. Broadwayzing Don't Stop Believing made the song sound forced and disfigured.

However, the visual part of the performance was dead on. I teared up when the original ND appeared and the glances Rachel exchanged with Finn, Kurt and Artie made me all fuzzy inside. That part was a definite success with all the nostalgia it provoked in us. The same costumes, the same roles with Finn on the drums and Artie on the guitar, the same dance moves, it was all great.

And the award for the best background character goes to: Kurt Hummel. I didn't spare Rachel a glance when she was on the verge of finding out if she got this great opportunity in favor of watching the fuzzy shape of Kurt as he munched adorably on a cookie in his anticipation. Be more precious, Kurt, I dare you.

Blaine's parents: Fanon vs Canon

I find that the fandom tends to make Blaine more angsty than he is on the show. We've had this idea about how utterly unaccepting his parents are ever since his talk with Burt in Sexy. Blaine's parents are rarely mentioned in canon but even before Shooting Star, I've always felt like we jumped the gun with our theories. I think Blaine's parents are more loving and accepting than we give them credit for:
  • They let Blaine go to the Sadie Hawkins dance with another boy.
  • They transferred him to Dalton, a private school that was very expensive, to ensure his safety and to get him away from his bullies (it's unclear if that happened right after Sadie Hawkins or not considering that Blaine considered the transfer 'running away')
  • They let their son accompany his boyfriend to prom.
  • They agreed to let Blaine transfer to Mckinley to be with said boyfriend.
  • Kurt was shown in Blaine's room on two different occasions (Because of the layers talk in The First Time and the scene in Michael) and the door was closed both times.
  • They let Blaine go to NY on a whim to see Kurt
  • They agreed to let Blaine transfer back to Dalton because he wanted to
  • They allowed Blaine to go with Burt to visit Kurt on Christmas.
  • Blaine is evidently very open about his relationship with Kurt, based on the shrine of photos he has of Kurt in his bedroom.
  • Then we have the comment in Shooting Star about how they stayed up all night, crying, talking and hugging Blaine. This is pretty much a normal reaction for parents who were faced by the possibility of losing their child but the scene between Tina and Blaine evidently took place a few days after the shooting. Blaine's parents couldn't sleep because Blaine was going back to a school where a shooting took place the next day. The way it was worded and the atmosphere of the scene just felt like the show was telling us that they aren't cold or distant or anything like that.
The only part that made us all think the worst about Blaine's parents was his comment to Burt in Sexy when he said he thought that his father built a car with him hoping to turn him straight and said that he and his father don't have the kind of relationship Burt has with Kurt.

- While this could point to Mr. Anderson not accepting Blaine's sexuality, I can't help but remember that Burt bribed Kurt with a car so that he would stop wearing knee-length sweaters then took his car away when he discovered Kurt's collection of tiaras. Burt was still struggling at the time but he worked on himself till he developed this wonderful relationship with Kurt. And it didn't mean that he loved his son any less, he just couldn't relate to him at the time.

- I think that this might be the case with Mr. Anderson, he just couldn't relate to Blaine at the time. Plus, we don't even know what actually happened in this situation. What we got was Blaine's interpretation of it. The possibility that building a car with Blaine was Mr. Anderson's idea of bonding or an attempt to get closer to his son is still there, Blaine could have just misunderstood his father's motives.

- The comment about Blaine not having a close relationship with his father though makes me think that they never moved on from the initial struggle and thus, never shared the close knit relationship Burt and Kurt share. While the Hummels' struggle made them stronger and brought them closer, the Andersons' never got solved and held them at a stand still.

I just think that there are several subtext points that suggest that the Andersons are just as accepting as Burt, but they just don't know how to show it.

Who's catfishing Ryder?

This question has been stuck in my head since I saw Shooting Star, and I literally went through every single Glee member and it's driving me crazy.

The thing about Shooting Star is that it made us eliminate people while subtly adding other into the mix. Katie's phone rang in the choir room but they never told us if Brittany and Tina were in the choir room before leaving or not. Neither girl had their bags with them so they could have left them in the choir room.

Here are the people who I think could be the catfish and the reasons I think they fit or not.
  • Kitty: I honestly thought that she would be the one. Her relationship with Puck holds no weight and the similar names indicated it, like Glee was hiding her in plain sight and there was a spoiler that Kitty will have a romance gone wrong but after SS, it became apparent that it wasn't Kitty because she would have just admitted to it, especially after her confession to Marley in the choir room.
  • Jake: Jake's reaction to the whole thing was just off. He was just rigid and weird and they didn't show him holding a phone in the choir room. But Katie helped Ryder find some common ground with Unique in a time where Jake was pissed at Ryder, he just wouldn't have helped him. And Katie told Ryder that she only lied about her name and picture, and that she wanted to get close to him and that she was shy. I don't see Jake saying that to Ryder, it just sounds romantic and Jake wouldn't continue to lead Ryder on after he blew up at him and Marley, and after he saw how Ryder was hung up on Katie.
  • Unique: She makes a lot of sense. Katie appeared during the kiss fiasco between Ryder, Marley and Jake, a time when Unique was upset with Ryder, too upset if you ask me. Unique approaching Ryder to 'defend' Marley always struck me as weird. Plus, Katie said that she was 'someone' who wanted to get close to him, she didn't say a girl who wanted to get close to him which could go along with the whole fight about gender identity that Unique and Ryder had. Unique was also shown holding onto a phone only during the group hug after the lockdown. What makes me skeptical about Unique is that all signs point to her now and I don't know if Glee would make it that obvious when it was supposed to be a cliffhanger of sorts. Also, why didn't she go to meet Ryder? And the amount of fury and pain she showed in Feuds doesn't match the calm demeanor Katie adopted when she was talking to Ryder about the situation with Unique.
  • Tina: I never actually considered Tina before SS but now, I'm warming up to the idea significantly. I always got a vibe from Tina and Ryder during This is the New Year when she tapped his nose during it (an intimate move that seriously made no sense at the time considering that she was crushing on Blaine then, and it's not a friendly move and even if it was, Ryder and Tina weren't friends) Tina was outside the school but without her bag and the conversation with Blaine made it look like she had no way to get in touch with the others. So where was her phone? Couldn't she have texted them to make sure they're safe? to say goodbye? And she was very distraught before Say that it could explain why she didn't go to meet Ryder. Katie said that she was shy which might appear as a contradiction to the snarky persona Tina had been adopting but it could make sense when you remember the girl we met at season 1, this girl is still a part of her. Plus, after the utter fiasco with Blaine, she might be wary of just putting herself on the line like that again because last time, she got taunted (Sue in Feud and Sam in Guilty Pleasures)
Katie looks like someone who has a romantic interest in Ryder, based on what she said about wanting to get close to him so the boys are out, both Marley and Kitty said it wasn't them and I believe them. Sugar wasn't there and I seriously can't see Brittany doing it ( Sam did indicate that her phone was in the choir room and the simple logic she used with Ryder in Feuds matches Brittany but she has no reason to do it, she isn't 'shy' when it comes to getting close to people, she just basically walks to them and starts talking (i.e, Kurt, Marley and Kitty), she is dating Sam with no reason to be romantically interested in Ryder and she is far too innocent to pull something like that. And wasn't she preoccupied with Lord Tubbington and the asteroid during the episode?).

So it's between Unique and Tina and I'm leaning heavily towards Tina right now.

4x18: Shooting Star

Here's what you missed on Glee: New Directions are going against two choirs with equally ridiculous names, Lima is going to be hit by a ladybug meteor\ asteroid, Ryder serenaded a girl who didn't even know him with an iconic love song and Sam keeps innocent cats trapped in his backpack and let me tell you, the cat wasn't amused.

I truly loved every minute of this episode. Some parts didn't make sense to me but all in all, it was one of the best episodes Glee has ever done. The built up of the catfish story was good and I can not wait to find out who the person behind this scheme is. Having him jump to the conclusion that it was either Jake or Marley was a little weird though, even if the scene was so well played.

Brittany was her usual bubbly, hilarious self (at least at the beginning of the episode) and watching the ND singing a love song to a cat was surprisingly very funny. My favorite part was the incredulous looks the ND exchanged when they realized that this is not a song between Brittany and Sam but between Brittany and Lord Tubbington.

The scene between Beiste and Will in the locker room didn't make much sense to me. Because even if Beiste believed that Will and Emma are over, A) Emma is her friend so going after her fiance didn't sit right with me, B) when did Beiste ever show romantic interest in Will? and C) why the hell didn't Will tell her that he and Emma are back together right away?. Will's reaction was very respectful though and they solved the matter like the adults they were (thank God).

From the very second the first shot echoed through Mckinley, we were treated to the best acting the Glee cast has ever done. From Sam's frantic tries to go and find Brittany, to Brittany's choked terror, Blaine's mute shut-down, Kitty's dive into Unique's arms, Ryder's insistence to get in touch with Katie, Artie's video of goodbye messages, Tina's desire to join her friends and Marley's failed attempts at contacting her mother. Will was like the perfect teacher in the situation and him going out to find Brittany was heartwarming.

The shooting might have just taken 10 minutes on screen but it was the most horrifying and tear-jerking moments of Glee. The cast caught the reality of human emotions when faced by such a terrorizing events and it was like we had most of the possible different reactions happening at the same place. Chord Overstreet, Heather Morris and Darren Criss truly stand out though. The scene when Will had to physically restrain Sam to prevent him from leaving made me burst into tears, so did Brittany's petrification when she heard someone going into the bathroom and the breath she let out when she discovered it was Will, and don't get me started on how perfect Darren was in portraying Blaine's triad of emotions.

What really hit me in those scenes though was the use of sounds. The silence that swept over the whole school with only the sound of panted breaths and muffled cries disrupting it and  how Glee turned simple things like the ticking of a metronome, the vibration of a phone, the sound of shower water hitting the tiles and the dripping of tab water in sinks into clanging shines of doom. The metronome is particular sounded like both a mix of racing heart beats and a countdown to disaster.
Have to say that I didn't see Becky being the shooter coming. They did a very good built up with her conversation with Brittany and while having Sue assume the responsibility to protect Becky was a move that Sue would do, we are still faced with the fact that Becky thought that the best way to protect herself was to bring a loaded gun to the school. Not to mention that now she would be faced with the guilt of being the reason Sue lost her job. I certainly hope they deal with this part in future episodes.

I'm seriously in love with Bram now. There wasn't a second in the episode that I didn't feel Sam's love for Brittany and their fake family part was great, even if Lady Tubbington looked like she was gonna rip Sam apart for keeping her in a backpack.

Can RIB write more scenes that have Blaine laughing this teary squeaky laugh more often? I'm just absolutely in love with it. That whole scene was cute as hell and please tell me it marked the end of Tina's bitchy persona, I miss nice Tina.

Say was perfect in every way. The coming together of the Glee club and the way they were all bonding with each other and touching each other was really moving. Also, I'm seriously shipping Artie and Kitty (Kartie?), make this happen Glee.

Shooting Star's messages about Blaine

I can't help but feel like the writers were trying to send us several messages about Blaine in this episode. While there wasn't a particular focus on Blaine during the shooting, the camera cut to him an awful lot of times, recording the changes in his reaction which mirrored the change in his emotions. It was little moments that came together to form a big picture that not only addressed the common fanon theory that Blaine's parents aren't accepting, but also divulged subtly the impact Sadie Hawkins had on Blaine's psyche while staying true to who Blaine is as a person.
  • Blaine's initial reaction to the shots:
- While everyone was scrambling to the nearest corner, Blaine was moving the piano to create a place to hide then helping Artie sit on the floor. He was the one to question whether the sound they heard was a gun shot or not, and he was the first one to reach for his phone the second Mr. Shue told them to start telling people.
- This is consistent with how Blaine was portrayed from the very start. As a leader (Warbler's lead soloist, the New Rachel, Student Council President, etc) and a planner (planning to infiltrate the Cheerios to topple Sue), as someone who doesn't fly off the handle without proof (refusing to believe that the warblers cheated until he had concrete proof)
  • Reconciling the panic of the situation with Blaine's 'collected' persona
- Blaine was trying so damn hard to keep a level head in an impossible situation and not to let his panic consume him. It was like he was rationalizing the situation so as not to get crippled by his panic and was forcing himself to be as calm as possible and think. But he broke when someone jiggled the door handle. He crumbled, pressing his palms to his eyes as if saying "this isn't happening". He was petrified and there was no masking it.
  • Showing Blaine exhibiting what could be viewed as PTSD
- Blaine was the only one not touching someone during the shooting. All of the others were seen holding hands, hugging and leaning against each other except him. He put a little bit of distance between him and Artie and only touched Sam once until they were told they were safe. When Will was wrestling Sam into submission, he pressed his hands to his ears, trying to block what was going on. He was sitting with his knees pulled to his chest and at some point, he just curled into himself, making himself smaller.
- When everyone was telling Ryder to hang up, they were frantic and forceful while Blaine was positively terrified. He couldn't even talk so he mouthed "hang up the phone, please" at Ryder. After the shooting ended, he was sobbing into Sam's shoulder.
  • Stressing the bond between him and Sam and between him and Tina
- He tried to hold onto Sam to prevent him from standing up (his first physical interaction with anyone since he helped Artie out of his chair, since he physically distanced himself from everyone else) and he clung to Sam after they were given the all clear.
- He acknowledged that Tina wasn't with them in the choir room (a fact that everyone already knew) and the scenes in the hallway and the auditorium.
  • Subtly reminding the audience that Blaine is just a teenager
- After The Break Up, there was a lot of hate on Blaine which only got worse after the crush on Sam. Blaine looked utterly young throughout the shooting. It was bleeding through several things like the curled up position he adopted and the fact that we could actually hear his sobs when he latched onto Sam after the shooting. It only intensified when he was the only person showed to be calling his parents and his 'hey mommy' was audible.
  • Telling the audience that Blaine's parents aren't homophobic or cold
- Despite the presence of some subtext indications of that before ( Blaine's parents agreeing to let him transfer because he wanted to be with his boyfriend and Kurt being present in Blaine's house twice with the door closed (Michael and The First Time) and we had confirmation that Blaine's mother was there in Michael), Glee made sure to tell us that Blaine's parents are in fact loving and caring, with Blaine being one of only two characters to mention the parents reaction.
The subtext development of Blaine's character and how Glee is giving him more depth is just wonderful. And Darren Criss deserves a round of applause for his perfect capturing of Blaine's emotions. In an episode filled to the brim with amazing performances (i.e, Chord Overstreet and Heather Morris), Darren managed to tug at our heart strings and deliver one of the most heartbreaking and most realistic performances.

4x17: Guilty Pleasures

Here's what you missed on Glee: Kurt and Bruce are totally exclusive, Rachel seemed very okay with knowing that her friends\ ex-boyfriend think that there is no reason for her to know about Brody, Sam continues to be an awesome human being and Kitty turned out to be human after all.

This is the first time the quick recap in the beginning of the episode stops me. They pretty much implied that Blaine's crush on Sam has been a continuous thing since Sadie Hawkins. So he was still crushing on Sam but he slept with Kurt? Sure, Glee, whatever you say. Most of the Blam scenes were so good. I was very upset that we never got a closure for the crush and I'm glad that we finally got them talking about it. I loved the smooth way they used to introduce the theme of the episode and Blaine just reminded me how much I love Blam with the way he just offered to help Sam. One question though: in the locker room scene, why did Blaine ask if Sam had feelings for him? That part was pulled out of thin air and was extremely awkward.

The part I had a problem with was Against All Odds. While the song was incredible, it made zero sense. It described Klaine perfectly but they made Blaine sing it to Sam? Blaine who only three episodes ago was telling Kurt that they will end up together, Blaine who just in the beginning of the episode was nearly reduced to tears and was making heart eyes at a macaroni art of Kurt, that same Blaine was now singing a song about a lost love to his best friend whom he had a mere crush on. Mixed signals, Glee. That was very upsetting for me because I enjoyed the song and Darren did such a good job with it. I'm just gonna imagine it with Klaine flashbacks now.

But I've already ranted about AAO so I'm not gonna do it again. Moving on, I LOVED the auditorium talk between Blam. Sam was so mature and respectful and understanding. That was a very good scene in my opinion. The hug and the breath mint thing was SO hilarious.
Kurt's scenes had so many implicit hints about Blaine that pushed the narrative forward and collaborated with the CWM fantasy and Kurt's words to Adam:
  • Kurt bought the boyfriend pillow when he was on ambien. In Glease, he told Rachel that he was living on ambien and the Notebook. Basically, Kurt bought the pillow when he was lonely after he broke up with Blaine.
  • He named it Bruce, a name that starts with a B and ends with an E. Mmm, I wonder what other name starts with B and ends with E. Anyone?
  • Kurt is still cuddling the pillow, even now when he has a boyfriend\someone he is dating\ whatever the hell Adam is.
  • Kurt afraid that, god forbid, Blaine will find out about Bruce.
  • Kurt singing 'I will never let you go' then throwing the hoop with Blaine being the one to catch it in Mamma Mia. This was the only 'interaction' between Lima and New York.
Conclusion: sorry, Adam. Looks like your quest to find the sappiest love movie failed miserably. Otherwise, Kurt would be cuddling you, instead of being exclusive with Bruce.

Last episode, I had no problem with Santana calling Finn to confront Brody. Didn't think it was necessary but whatever. What changed my mind was the way it was addressed in this episode. Did Rachel actually thank Santana for 'calling Finn to defend her honor'? Very bad choice of words, Glee. They are dealing with this whole mess as if Rachel was a secondary character, not the only one who actually have a right to know. She is not a child or weak, Rachel Berry is a damn force of nature. I get that Santana went behind Rachel back in investigating Brody because Rachel just didn't want to see that something was wrong, and I get Kurt not wanting Rachel to know until after her Funny Girl audition, but they sidelined her so much that Santana had the nerve to tell her what to do and that she is NOT getting back with Brody. Sorry, that was not right and I kinda wanted to slap Santana for it. Rachel should have raged at them for not even bothering to tell her something that big.

Confronting Brody at NYADA was kinda strange, not to mention totally inappropriate considering that Rachel called him a hooker when the students that were in the room was actually still there. Safe to say that the entire student body of NYADA knows about Brody now. Also, they finally addressed the fact that Rachel doesn't have a job but not only is she doing okay financially, she also managed to afford to change her entire wardrobe. I think Chris Colfer was the one who talked about this in I Heart Glee. Nice touch, guys. Have to say that I didn't like Creep at all. Not vocally or visually. It felt like the only reason they had the confrontation at NYADA was that they could run in the halls. It was just weird.

I liked the energy in Wake Me Up Before You Go Go and Wannabe. WMUBYGG was just incredible and Sam and Blaine were adorable. it's one of my favorite performances. Wannabe had a good vibe but I didn't like it very much vocally. Also, I think that Tina and Unique should have swapped places. Not because Unique is black but because Baby Spice couldn't be more wrong for her. She just looked forced and weird and Tina as Scary Spice was plain.

The Chris Brown\ Bobby Brown dilemma was well explained and played but I still don't know how I feel about the question Jake asked. Should we separate the art from the artist? I don't think that many people would be able to do that, it's just human nature. But he made a very good argument and I'm gonna take some time to think about this. I didn't like the way the girls booed at him though. Even if they didn't like his choice, they have talked about it and he explained where he was coming from. They had no right to do that. It looked like they were trying to force their opinion on him which just isn't right.

Dare I say that I ship Kartie? I never understood Pitty and I don't think I'll ever will. Kitty was actually tolerable and a part human in that episode and I liked it. Hope Glee doesn't just drop it like they did with Bartie and Sugar\ Artie (do they even have a ship name?)

Against All Odds

Remember how a couple of days ago I was telling people not to be upset about AAO and how it just CAN'T be about Sam? Yeah, RIB just punched us in the face and as far as I'm concerned, ruined a perfectly good song that would have held a huge impact and message for the Klaine relationship.

I have so many problems with AAO and the talk after it that I don't know where to begin. That scene just upset me so damn much for so many reasons:
  1. The song clearly talks about an established relationship that has hit a bump. The singer is in pain because he let his love leave and is yearning for him. He knows that the chance of them reconciling is slim but that a chance he's willing to take. So how on earth does this fit Blam exactly?
  2. It is very angsty and emotional. Are we supposed to buy that Blaine's emotions for Sam are that strong when they have stressed a million time that it was just a crush? There is no way for Blaine to be feeling this deeply for Sam.
  3. The lyrics can't be more unfitting. It is a song about not letting go. Why is Blaine singing this to Sam exactly? Why is he singing about hanging onto Sam when he clearly isn't doing so? In the auditorium conversation, Blaine was concerned that the crush would cost him Sam's friendship and he was relieved that this wasn't the case. He wasn't heartbroken that Sam didn't feel the same. He was just relieved that it's in the open and that Sam was okay with it. So why was he singing about hanging onto Sam again?
  4. "You're the only one who really knew me at all", that line was the most upsetting for me. I LOVE Blam, they are my favorite bromance, hands down. But that line exaggerated their bond so much. Romantic relationship aside, Klaine were portrayed as best friends first and foremost and they've called one another "best friend" several times. It was a friendship that has been a constant since season 2. So sorry, but Sam isn't the one who really knew Blaine, Kurt is. Because no one knows Blaine better than Kurt.
  5. The camera angles were maddening. They meant to cut from Blaine to Sam immediately to let us know that yes, Blaine is singing to\ about Sam. They could have easily just focused to Sam looking at Blaine, or made it look like Blaine was looking at the ND in general but no, they made sure that we all got it. It wasn't just Blaine singing about his emotions while looking at his friends. No, it was Blaine singing while looking straight at Sam as if singing to him. It would have been much better if Blaine was just singing and Sam misunderstood and thought it was about him. Why? Why would you exaggerate Blaine's feelings that much? It's a freaking crush, not a long lost love.
  6. The setting was so similar to Teenage Dream and it hurt so freaking much. Because as much as I love Blam, Klaine have so much history that it felt like the writers are selling Klaine short by putting them in a comparison with Blam.
  7. Why have Darren singing it live? I get why they did it with Teenage Dream, the emotions on Blaine's face and in his voice were impossible to portray through a recorded song but I couldn't find one single reason for doing it in AAO. Sure, it is an emotional song but the performance didn't have this mind-numbing, heartbreaking quality that existed in TD. So why the unexplained parallel?
  8. The way Artie looked at Sam during the song, as if knowing that the song was about him. And Kitty shushing Tina afterwards as if she guessed it too. Glee was telling us that yes, the crush is so damn obvious that others noticed it. Another exaggeration.
  9. Brittany was MIA during the performance. Can't have her here while having Blaine sing to her boyfriend, can we? Do they not realize how bad this looks? Even if Blaine had no intention of approaching Sam about the crush, even if the crush itself is so insignificant, singing a song like that to a taken man is bad taste.
  10. Why on God's green earth would Tina put Blaine in such a tight spot? It was like she was forcing him to use Kurt as an excuse (which I also didn't like). It made no sense, especially since Tina actually knew about the crush. And to have Kitty of all people telling her to shut it. So basically, one of Blaine's close friends embarrassed him while the girl who stood up for him was someone whom I can't even recall him having a conversation with? Sure, Glee.
The sad part is I liked the episode very much. I liked the auditorium talk between Blaine and Sam and the way it was resolved. I liked the scene where Sam showed Blaine the Kurt art and the expression on Blaine's face. I liked all the bonding stuff between them. Kurt was priceless in all of his scenes and I loved all the little hints that Blaine still holds his heart. So why, Glee? Why take a song that screamed Kurt and make it about Sam?. And please don't tell me that Blaine was just projecting his feelings for Kurt onto Sam because that's not the way it looked. That's just our shipper hearts that had a collective heart attack when Blaine started singing to Sam. The song is beautiful and Darren did such an amazing job but the context ruined it.I have no idea what the hell they were thinking when they picked it but then, these are the same people who thought that 'Candles' was appropriate for a couple that just got together and 'Girls Wanna Have Fun' was the best way for a guy who just outed his friend to show his support for her.

Thoughts on Guilty Pleasure

I realize that this speculation might come across as over analytical but well, I do tend to over analyze things so you have my apologies for that.

The fandom has been in a panic since Guilty Pleasures promo came out with a part of the Blam scene that sounded like Blaine was asking Sam if he has feelings for him. Okay, let's all agree that Ryan Murphy's hobby is to troll the fandom and drive us all nuts. I think he's trying to jerk our chains in cutting the scenes in a way that makes it sound like there are "feelings" between Sam and Blaine, be them one sided or not.

In the promo, there is a pause in Blaine's sentence, between "you have" and "feelings for me", and it sounds like it might be different sentences, cut out of context to scare us. This is probably the crush talk part and how is it that we go from Blaine crushing on Sam in the past to asking if Sam has feelings for him? Blaine is over the crush, that was made clear in I Do when he was talking about how he and Kurt are gonna end up together. So why on earth would he ask about Sam's feelings for him?

The way I see it, this part could have two logical explanations:
  • They discuss the crush and Blaine asks if the crush changes the way Sam feels about him, in fear that his friend will be upset\weirded out or something, or Blaine can be explaining where he was emotionally when he had the crush. The point is it'll be in the middle of a discussion.
  • Or they will be talking about Kurt. There is a Klaine subtext in the episode, if the macaroni art and Against All Odds are any indication. Blaine could be telling Sam about their situation and wondering if Kurt still has feelings for him. I'm really leaning hoping towards this for some reason. Maybe because the look on Sam's face right after Blaine finishes his 'question' is the same one he had when Blaine was telling him about the cheating in Dynamic Duets. I may have dubbed this look as 'Sam's face when faced with a complicated Klaine situation'.
The other cause for panic was Against All Odds which some people interpreted as being addressed to Sam. Um, what? Just because Chord tweeted about being there doesn't mean that Blaine is suddenly singing it to Sam. I absolutely think that Blam will discuss Klaine ( Can't really believe that Sam making macaroni art of Kurt won't lead to that sort of discussion). Again, it could go two ways. Blaine could start to lose hope of reconciliation with Kurt and Sam steps in to tell him not to give up, or Sam will talk to Blaine about letting go of Kurt, something along the lines of "if you love someone, set him free" ( but Blaine won't be able to do it, judging from the last line of AAO). Both ideas explain why Sam was there during Against All Odds and it actually adds up to the narrative. But please, don't try to convince me that AAO is about Sam because it basically screams Kurt. And let's not forget that Blaine knows nothing about CWM or Kurt's talk with Adam, the only thing he knows is that Kurt kept insisting that they were just friends so maybe he'll start to believe that this is how Kurt feels for him.

AAO conveys both hope and despair at the same time which is what Blaine is feeling right now. He is in-between, forced to face the possibility that Kurt might not take him back but unable to let go of the love of his life. He's singing his heartache and devotion in one song. He is hung up on Kurt and he knows that but he can't stop himself. The setting and decor of the song also points to that direction. The lights that are making heart shapes on the curtains, the red warm light behind Blaine, the stage that is half lit, half dark, all of it creates a perfect harmony between the two emotions that are tearing Blaine apart and it reflects the lyrics of the song perfectly. Also, doing the song live indicates a powerful emotion that the show wants us to feel and that was reinforced through Darren's heartfelt rendition of the song. The only time they did this was Teenage Dream and that was one hell of a performance, who else would make Blaine so emotional that he'll lay his soul bare like this besides Kurt?

4x16: Feud

Here’s what you missed on Glee: Will regressed to the state of a mean, vindictive teenager, Finn pretty much knocked on the camera to tell us that he and Rachel will end up together, I’m starting a catalogue dedicated to the number of time the camera focused on Blaine’s butt this season, Santana became the voice of the fandom, telling Rachel that no one can recognize Rachel Berry anymore, you can cross Marley off the list of characters who haven’t given Finn a pep talk yet and thank you God for the proof that Blaine does in fact have parents.

Santana was just wonderful. I love the parts where they focus on her gentler side; especially that it's always accompanied with a snarky attitude. Her moving to New York was truly one of the best decisions RIB made. I love that she’s trying to resurrect the true Rachel Berry who seems to have disappeared. Wake up, Rach. We're finding it hard to reconcile the ambitious, driven force of nature that we have had a love-hate relationship with since season one with the strange character that replaced her in NY.

Kurt and Rachel kicking Santana out was harsh in my opinion. They just did it with no concern to where she would go and the only comment they had was about a pillow and a comforter? Also, it was very hypocritical of Rachel to use the “you’re making Brody uncomfortable” excuse when I remember Kurt being more than uncomfortable when her boyfriend was parading naked in the apartment. Also,  how much did you swoon over Santana calling Kurt and Rachel her family more than once?

Why are the writers convinced that telling us straight up that Rachel and Finn are gonna end up together is the way to go? There’s something called subtlety, guys. You don’t have to make Finn tell us that they are endgame or that Rachel is his future wife to convince us, you can easily do that through the story. Hell, Finn flying to NY to defend Rachel should have been enough to tell us that the spark is still there.

Were we supposed to feel bad for Brody? I really couldn't get a grasp on what they were trying to tell us here. That this is not who he is? that he doesn't want to do this? I seriously had trouble getting a read. I can believe that he doesn't want to do this but then, why do it in the first place? If you're so ashamed of it and hate then why do it? Can't really feel compassion for him when they didn't give us one logical reason.

Did anybody else think that Marley got out scout free in the whole kissing thing? Unique confronted Ryder about it leading to a feud and Jake wanted to shut Ryder out but the second Marley said sorry, all was forgiven and all the anger was directed at Ryder. She had just admitted that she knew that Ryder was into her and that she didn’t discourage him, not to mention that she said she let Ryder kiss her. I’m all for forgiving but then you should forgive both of them.

What happened between Marley and Ryder was truly none of Unique's business and she blew it out of proportion but his words were a low blow. If she didn't care what he thought and he didn't get to decide for her, why did she insist that he calls her a girl? His opinion doesn't matter anyway. I can respect him for wanting to let it go and offering his hand for a hand shake but his words clearly hurt her. I did respect him for his apology later. That scene was handled perfectly and it was very mature of all of them to own up to what they did and speak their minds freely. But I couldn't help but notice that Blaine was the only one not mentioned when Ryder was talking about the seniors graduating. Do I need to be worried, Ryan?

The award for the most successful person to make me want to hit him despite him being the victim last episode goes to: Will. He's a freaking adult and he resorted to childish actions and lecturing Finn on "not acting like he's above the kids" when Finn, you know, the teenager in the situation, was the one who wanted to talk. I can’t fault Will for saying that he couldn’t forgive Finn, forgiveness doesn't happen by a flick of a switch, but he should have been more mature in dealing with the situation. Also, it seems we're back to the good old days of Finn kicking a chair. He kicked things TWICE this episode.

It’s official, Blam are the most perfect friendship I've seen on Glee. Those two perfect boys are trying to end Sue’s reign of terror by the time they graduate. They won’t even be there to revel in it but they’re still doing it. Blaine, the guy who has Student Council, the ND, a million other different clubs, a NYADA audition and school work to worry about and Sam, who also has Student Council and ND, plus worrying about his SAT and college. They are giving time and effort to make the school better. I just love those two, okay?

The Sue Vs. Blaine scenes were hilarious and I couldn't get over the fact that Blaine was adopting a sort of military stance when he was standing in front of her in his uniform. The jab at Blaine’s helmet head was so good and their little “you’re looking into the face of evil” was amazing. And is it just me or did the writers decide to settle the fandom fight of who is the “top” between Blaine and Kurt with Blaine’s “it’s not true, not really". They’re basically telling us that they switch. Got it, writers, see how subtlety works for us. Just a little remark, Sue said that Blaine and Tina joined the Cheerios on December 5th when I remember clearly Finn saying in Swan Song that everyone joined different clubs within two days of their loss. Thanksgiving was on November 22nd so shouldn’t that mean that Blaine and Tina joined on November 24th? Get your dates right Glee.

Thank you, sweet merciful lord, that someone finally decided to take Sue down. This is the teacher who has been flinging students against walls, forcing them to give consent to be thrown out of a canon, leaking the Glee club set list, making a student make false accusation of sexual harassment against another teacher and now, forging a student's signature, taking a house loan and credit cards in his name and making a jab at his sexuality? Sorry, Sue. Looks like you're on Blam's radar and they are going to bring you down.

Musically speaking, I enjoyed most of the songs of the episode.

How To Be A Heart Breaker: I loved the audio version once I heard it but the visual was a so-so. The choreography was good in the lobby then they got to the stair case part. What the hell were they doing there exactly? I don't know what was it but the performance that started out okay turned to a very sketchy number, which I suppose was the point but it still made me uncomfortable.

Cold Hearted: I couldn’t help but picture Santana as a student at NYADA. I know that it doesn’t add up to her characterization and that she’s not a performing art school type of girl but she would kick ass there. Plus, it would be hilarious to see her and Cassie in a cat fight. The song was perfection, simply put.

I Still Believe\ Super Bass: I was extremely surprised when Sue won the feud (I did know that Blaine will rejoin the Cheerios but I didn’t think that it was a result of winning a sing off. I expected it to end like the other feuds in the episode) Vocally, Blaine can out sing Sue at any given day. I Still Believe might not have had a real choreography but Super Bass was all about the Cheerios, not Sue. Sue’s movements were stiff and lacking at best. She was using props and lights and feathers to draw the attention away from her mediocre performance. She did a good job with the singing and the song was energetic but the rest was just...off, while Blaine sounded amazing and depended solely on raw talent. I have no idea how the ND, who are supposed to recognize talent first and foremost, chose Sue. I was even more surprised that Sam of all people didn’t vote for Blaine but that was explained later but what about the rest? I don’t think all of the ND know, Kitty would certainly tattle the second she knows so how come they voted for Sue again?

The Bitch Is Back\ Dress You Up: Both songs were really great and Ryder and Unique did a very good job but what tipped the scale to Ryder’s side was the awkward dance moves Unique attempted. It was very distracting and weird. And I didn’t like that they’re bringing us back to the conclusion that Ryder is Finn 2.0 with him playing the drums. When was it ever indicated that Ryder can do so? Wasn't that the same guy who had next to zero musical knowledge at the beginning of the season?

I Want It That Way\ Bye Bye Bye: Loved it. Very energetic and Matt, Jake and Darren were so good. I especially loved the part when the two groups mixed together. The only part I could've gone without was the fighting part and I was a little disappointed that it ended with Will refusing to forgive Finn. I understand it but it’s a little hypocritical considering that Will himself has cheated on Emma before. But I understand the loss of trust and the pain of having your friend cheat on you and it’s a push for Finn to find a dream.

Closer: I love the performances where the ND just get to goof around and be friends. Showing Unique and Ryder at “it’s not just all physical” was a very nice touch too. Loved the energy but Ryder didn't sound that good. Jake was way better. And behold Will having his “My Love is Your Love” moment of season 4 where he finds out that these kids have become a family, despite their differences. Too bad he can’t take the credit this time.

The Klaine situation

So this is just my first reaction of the Klaine story line in this episode.
  • Kurt was the one who picked Moulin Rouge, a film that we can safely assume that he had watched with Blaine like 2000 times, not to mention a film that contained his wedding song.
  • We have to remember that Come What May is Kurt's fantasy. He actually fantasized about Blaine singing their wedding song by himself and recalling tender moments from their relationship, including their first time. Kurt KNOWS that Blaine still loves him with everything he has and is yearning for his forgiveness.
  • I know that the script Ryan posted said that Kurt was torn but I had a hard time seeing that. The only feeling I got from Kurt was that he was trying so hard to deny the fact that he was still in love with Blaine, that was obvious when he turned around, giving his back to Blaine while he sang. Honestly, he looked very sure to me. He knew that he still loved Blaine but didn't want to admit it. His heart knew that he was still in love with Blaine and the only way for him to run away from this fact was to run away from Blaine himself, which he promptly realized was a lost cause and he turned around to sing "But I love you" right at Blaine.
  • That point was proved further when he was talking to Adam. When Adam asked if he still loved Blaine, Kurt avoided the question and said that he wants desperately to be over Blaine, he never came out and said that he doesn't love Blaine, because he simply knows it is not true.
  • Kurt gravitated towards Blaine as soon as he stepped onto the roof and their movements were so in sync when they started swaying together. They were falling back into a familiar territory which then terrified Kurt, making him pull away from Blaine in an attempt to deny that he still wants to be with Blaine.
  • The hug at the end summarized everything Kurt was feeling. He was holding onto Blaine, leaning his head on his shoulder comfortably. This felt right, to be wrapped up in Blaine's arms again. Kurt was the one who reached out to pull Blaine to him and don't get me started on the look on his face during the hug. He was home, simple as that. Blaine was moving his hands over Kurt's back to surround him and comfort him, this is how Kurt pictures him, wrapping him on a cocoon of love.
  • Can we talk about the fact that Kurt was actually awake when he fantasized about CWM? He didn't fall asleep and had his subconscious creep up on him. He was wide awake, with his sort of  dare right beside him and he still fantasized about singing his wedding song with his ex.
  • This episode is the first time we actually hear Kurt admit that he wasn't over Blaine. I liked the talk between him and Adam because it forced him to face his feelings, instead of deflecting (which he did in I Do when he kept insisting that they were friends, and again when he was quick to brush Santana's comment aside after CWM)
  • The look on Kurt's face when Adam held his hand spoke volumes to me. Kurt was just coming to the realization that he wasn't over Blaine and he didn't think that staying with Adam was the right way to do it. He's still hurt but he is also still in love with Blaine and he doesn't know what the right course of action is. His heart wants Blaine but his head is wary and he doesn't think that Adam's suggestion will help.
  • Kurt is tempted by Adam's suggestion. He likes Adam and the guy just implied that he wants to stick with him until he gets over Blaine. Adam is the safe choice in this scenario and a part of Kurt wants that because Adam doesn't hold his heart which means that he can't hurt him. But he doesn't think it'll work, because being safe isn't the same as being happy.
  • It's like Adam is setting himself to get hurt. He was just talking about being the rebound, then immediately puts himself in the position of a rebound. Kurt just told him that he wasn't over Blaine, he admitted to being with him at the wedding, and I really can't see Adam's suggestion and disposition doing anything to strengthen his relationship with Kurt, and a part of Kurt knows that, which again is clear from the look on Kurt's face.
  • To sum it up, I don't think that Kurt is torn about his feelings for Blaine, he knows exactly what they are but he is afraid of acting on them because he doesn't want to be hurt, again. He is, however, torn about Adam, whom he likes but isn't ready in anyway to be with, not while he's still in love with Blaine.

Come What May

Now that I've listened to Come What May for about 100 times, I feel like I can finally think logically about it. I was surprised that they chose to go with the movie version instead of the other one, because Blaine is singing more in this version but once again, RIB prove that they know what the hell they're doing.

If we take in the context of the song in the movie, Christian is teaching Satine the song and trying to prove his love for her so to speak, which is reflected in Glee by Blaine. Also, the conversation just before CWM in Moulin Rouge is Satine trying to break up with Christian and Christian refusing to let her. Again, it's reflected in Glee with Kurt trying to downplay the make out and the sex and Blaine telling him that he knows that they will be together for a long time.

The song is Kurt's fantasy and while it makes sense that Blaine will be singing more in Kurt's fantasy, I think it also accommodates the fact that Kurt is "torn" about Blaine. He'll basically just stand there, listening to Blaine professing his undying love and contemplating whether he should join him or not. Kurt spends half the song trying to figure out if he has it in him to sing with Blaine which in a way, means that he has forgiven Blaine. Kurt joining Blaine in their wedding song refers to Kurt finally taking the final step in forgiving Blaine, which again is reflected by the fact that his first solo line is "I love you" which is the only part that was changed from the original song ( Chirstian is the one who says it first in the song which means that Blaine should have been the one saying it with Kurt echoing him, not the other way around) That holds a lot of weight because it's the very first time we hear Kurt saying I love you first. Also, cutting "until my dying day" from the end kinda makes sense because I think this is the moment Kurt comes out of his fantasy and realizes that this means that he still loves Blaine enough to forgive him.

The lyrics of CWM itself fits Klaine so much. The parts they both sing fits the situation perfectly. Blaine keeps saying how much he loves Kurt and promises to love him no matter what. Kurt joins in when he realizes that his life is perfect when Blaine is in it. He's a little timid and unsure in the beginning, with Blaine's voice being a notch about Kurt's, portraying his confidence that they belong together versus Kurt's doubt. Kurt's tone changes in "And there's no mountain too high", it becomes more sure. His voice soars in "Storm clouds may gather, stars may collide" which refers to them being pulled apart and broken, then we got to his first I love you. It's like he realizes that no matter what they went through, the trouble and the pain, he still loves Blaine and wants him.

There are some theories that this is Kurt's Blackbird moment, and while I certainly hope so, some of the upcoming songs indicate that they don't get back together after CWM. If Mamma Mia and Against All Odds are in context, then Kurt will start slowly realizing that he does want to give Blaine another chance, which will start with CWM but will take some time after because he's afraid of getting hurt again, while Blaine will despair that Kurt will never take him back, hence the live performance of Against the Odds. The only other time Darren sang live was the acoustic version of Teenage Dream which means a lot for Klaine so it makes sense that the second live performance is another song that is about Kurt. I certainly hope that they continue with the Moulin Rouge parallel and we get the CWM reprise when they get back together, just without the dying part.

Double standards in judging Blaine

I really don't understand the amount of hate thrown at Blaine lately. Every time anyone talks about Klaine or about Blaine as a person, the answer is always "he cheated". I know that I'm gonna make a lot of comparisons here but there is a hard case of double standards that is driving me nuts.

I'm not trying to say that Blaine is a perfect little angel who can do nothing wrong. He made a horrible mistake and hurt Kurt deeply. He totally deserved Kurt shutting him out and refusing to talk to him. I get all of that and I think it's only fair but why is he being treated like the devil incarnate? He's an 18 year old boy and people make mistakes, teenagers make mistakes. But that one mistake doesn't erase every single good deed he's ever done, it doesn't define who he is. It doesn't change the fact that he had been there for Kurt when no one else was, or that he loved and supported Kurt for more than a year.

I admit that I'm a Blaine stan but I also love Kurt to death. I have no doubt in my mind that Blaine truly loves Kurt. There is no sugarcoating Blaine's cheating but it was a lapse in judgement. It wasn't Blaine being horny and deciding to wreck his relationship with Kurt just for kicks. He was hurt and confused and yes, he made the worst possible decision in this situation but he had done everything in his power to atone for it and he apologized to Kurt time and again. What I'm saying is that Blaine has certainly earned our forgiveness

Now let's talk about the double standards in this fandom. People are hating on Blaine so much and calling him a cheater. Okay, Correct me if I'm wrong but more than half of the characters on Glee have cheated at some point or another. Quinn, Finn, Puck, Rachel, Mercedes, Sam, Brittany, Santana, hell even Will cheated, and no one has ever shunned them the way they're shunning Blaine now.

People are saying that Blaine doesn't deserve Kurt because he hurt them. Let's take a step back from Kurt's romantic relationship and look at Kurt's relationships with the rest of the characters. HummelBerry is being hailed as a wonderful friendship, right? Well, if we really stopped at everything Rachel had done to Kurt, we would have never been able to even remotely tolerate Rachel. This is the girl who ran against him in the elections despite not really needing the extra resume boost and actually told him in BIOTA "who cares about you buddy?" when they disagreed on Blaine's sexuality, she went after a boy whom she knew for a fact that Kurt liked. But we forgave her because she also looked out for Kurt and loved him.

And there's Finn, the guy who pretty much called him a fag and guilted him into backing out of his duet with Sam and didn't stand up for him because he was worried about his reputation. Again, we forgave him after he started being a real brother to Kurt.

So if we managed to forgive Rachel and Finn and Puck who was tossing Kurt in dumpsters, and Santana who was making gay jokes right in front of Kurt. God, even Karofsky who bullied, hate-kissed and threatened Kurt's life, was later forgiven.  We've forgiven all the characters  so much crap because we accept that life isn't black and white and that people screw up but in the end, all of the characters are good people and they try to make up for their mistakes and for every mistake, you'll find a good deed. Isn't that what happens in actual life? I mean, I just talked about people who have hurt Kurt only. I haven't even touched upon all the other things the Glee clubbers have done to each other. If we can forgive all of the others' mishaps, why can't we show the same courtesy to Blaine?

Because he is a cheater. Let's talk facts here. He was insecure and felt like Kurt had forgotten him, he went straight away to Kurt and confessed to his cheating, he was genuinely sorry about it and we've seen how much he was suffering. I'm not trying to downplay his cheating but could anyone please tell me how many people on the show  had the decency to fess up to their cheating? How many of them were sorry because they committed the act and not because it got them in trouble or blew up in their faces?

Exactly three people confessed to their cheating and only two were remorseful. The first was Rachel who told Finn about kissing Puck but she made it like a quid pro quo situation, Finn lied to her and she kissed Puck so now they're equal. The second was Mercedes who confessed to Shane that she kissed Sam and she was torn up about it even before telling Shane, and the third is Blaine. And please don't tell me that Rachel and Mercedes only kissed other guys while Blaine slept with Eli because morally speaking, cheating is cheating, no matter the form.

So why is Blaine being treated like the worst human being on the face of this earth again? Why do we love and defend characters that have done the same mistake, if not worse but refuse to cut him some slack?

Kadamers attacking Klaine

I just read a very interesting post that was sort of comparing Klaine to Kadam and I just can't. I get that the note was addressed to Oliver and it was about how Adam was a good character and all, but the comparison was just insane.

The note said, and I quote: "When did Blaine ever make Kurt feel special; it was always about what Kurt need to do for him- where Adam always lights up in his soul around Kurt through Adam's eyes the mirror to the soul"

Let's start from the top, what did Blaine ever do to make Kurt feel special? Count with me, will you?
  • He was there for Kurt when no one else was, Kurt's own friends didn't notice his struggle but Blaine, a stranger that didn't even know him, picked up on it and went out of his way to help him, even driving to Mckinley to help Kurt face his bully.
  • When he was telling Kurt about how he felt, he gave this beautiful heartwarming speech followed by an incredible kiss that made up for the fact that Kurt's first kiss was taken from him, the whole scene went down in TV history as one of the best.
  • He insisted that Kurt duet with him at Regionals, picking a song with " a little more emotion"
  • He supported Kurt when he decided to go back to Mckinley and recruited the Warblers to serenade Kurt in front of the entire school.
  • He went with Kurt to Prom despite his fear, supported him when he was elected Prom Queen and even stepped up to dance with him in front of the all the homophobic idiots that were trying to break Kurt.
  • He transferred schools to be with Kurt.
  • He supported Kurt when he was doubtful that he would get into NYADA.
  • He took a slushie for Kurt
  • He supported Kurt in his decision not to dress in a drag for Nationals
  • He encouraged Kurt to go to NY when he saw how unhappy he was
Yup, Blaine never made Kurt feel special. He was a terrible, terrible boyfriend. And what was that about Adam lighting up around Kurt? We saw the guy in two episodes where he had less than 10 minutes of screen time. I'm trying hard to find the "lighting up" part but I'm coming up with nothing.

Another quote: "Adam's serenading song was about accepting unique things about a person where as Blaine's was superficial". Yeah, sure, a songs about butts that objectify women just screams uniqueness to me. I mean look at lyrics like "that butt you got make me so horny", "to hell with romancing", "I just can't help myself, I'm acting like an animal", "if you want to roll in my Mercedes, then turn around and stick it out", those are just SOME of the lines of the oh so incredible song.

Now the so called superficial song, Teenage Dream. The songs is about acceptance and love and support, about loving everything about your significant other. Yes, it does include lines like " the way you turn me on" and "put your hands on me in my skintight jeans" but it doesn't just speak of a physical aspect. Teenage Dream has lyrics like " things were kinda heavy, you brought me to life", "my heart stops when you look at me" and "my missing puzzle piece, I'm complete". So yes, some of the lines were about physicality but the whole songs just screams of love and devotion.

Comparing the two songs just highlights how utterly ridiculous Baby Got Back is so please, love Kadam\ Adam all you want but if you think for a second that putting Blaine\Teenage Dream in a comparison with Adam\Baby Got back will work in your favor, or try to make it look like Adam is the perfect fit for Kurt by demeaning Blaine and Klaine, then you really won't like the comparisons WE will make. And do NOT get me started on the desperate move of trending "Klaine is Abusive " during I Do. We have two years of history and love and devotion under our belt, Kadamers have two episodes and a "sort of dating" status.
